Gumbo Gala

The Advent team's duck gumbo won the Chef's Choice Award for best specialty gumbo at Episcopal Place's annual Gumbo Gala fundraiser, held May 8 in Caldwell Park. Congratulations to our winning team, and thanks to everyone who made the event a success, including Laura Bright and Catherine Hall who decorated the duck-camp themed tent. For more information about Episcopal Place, visit www.EpiscopalPlace.org. Russ Chambliss comments: "The public seemed to have liked our gumbo. Many people came back for seconds and thirds. We gave out of gumbo (we made about 6 gallons) at around 12:30, an hour and a half before closing time, which I thought was pretty good. You really don't want to have to take any of it home! Many teams (even the pros) were still serving gumbo at the end of the day."
